| Acceptance Letter from John Ronald Reuel Tolkien to the Publisher |
||||
| Dear Lady Stardust, I shall be more than pleased to answer the letters from fans, friends, critics and of course colleagues (after all I did neglect them) sent to me through Dialogus, a wonderful device that I have not quite fully understood yet but that seems suitable enough for my old fingers and my equally old typewriter. I am, as always, overwhelmed by the task of putting up with all these letters unanswered that are accumulating on my desk, but I promise I will do everything to end this shameful situation. We read in Beowulf: he him thaes lean forgeald, he for that gave them their reward. I hope that my replies shall be such rewards, though humble, matching the patience of all who are kind enough to write to me. Yours sincerely, JRRT |
