Your Royal Highness. I'm sorry for any mistakes, but I live in Poland. My name
is Therese and I am your Majesty's maid. 1. When I want to ask you a question, do I have to bow down before Your Majesty? 2. Can I turn my back to the Queen? 3. Do I have the right to enter behind the barrier in the Queen's bedroom? 4. Do I have to obey the ladies in waiting? I worship Your Majesty, Maid Madelaine Dear Therese (or is it Madelaine?), When we are at Versailles, not everyone is allowed to talk to me. You have to be either introduced at the Court and/or I have to talk to you first. When Coutiers are metting me anywhere is Versailles, they have to bow and, depending on their status, the bow is different. You can never turn you back to the Queen. You cannot enter behind the berrier in the Queen's bedroom, unless I say you can. You have to obey everyone with a higher status than you. I prefer when we are at the Trianon, where the Etiquette is not as present as in Versailles. Marie-Antoinette |
