| Mr. Dumontais, I have recently received your request to participate in your project called Dialogus. Your project seems very interesting and I have decided to accept your invitation, even though in the place where I am I have plenty of occupations and preoccupations, as you can well imagine. I have now reached that moment in life where I sense I will soon be leaving this world. I have no doubt that God will soon call upon me. That thought makes me want to share my experiences of life, my realisations and my memories. Thus, I have decided to take the time to answer frankly and openly the questions your readers will adress me. To make things easier for your readers who may not know the rules of Étiquette, I will answer the letters I will receive as simply as possible, not as I would do in my official correspondance, but more in a private manner. In Marly, August 8th 1715. Louis |
