      Hi!

I hope that the reader of the present message understands english, cause my french is really no good. My name is Ana, I'm a student of comparative literature in Slovenia and I'm asking for some help considering Moliere. Namely, I'm doing a research on a dramatic role of letters (in plays). So if anybody could give me a tip about Moliere's plays and the role of letters in them, I would be very grateful. I'm looking for any kind of essays or articles considering these themes.

Thank you for your time, though I don't even know who you are.

Molière

      Mademoiselle,

I have often used letters in my plays, in The School for Husbands, The School for Wives, Le Misanthrope and Le Dépit amoureux to name but a few. I do not know what others have said about these letters, for I rarely read those who criticize me. Nevertheless, I should say that these letters delay contact between their author and their reader while revealing the most intimate thoughts of each in a way that is seldom possible on stage, in much the same way as I am now able to replay my thoughts even though I no longer tread the boards.
